Minimum wage for Cambodian textile workers raised by 4.4%

Cambodian unions, employers and the government have agreed to increase the minimum monthly wage of textile and footwear factory workers by US$8 next year, a rise of 4.4%, despite some workers saying the rise is not enough to improve their living standards.

Workers will receive US$190 a month starting in January. The current minimum monthly wage is US$182.

The decision was made by the three sides during a final meeting on the minimum wage in September.
