German brand gives €100,000 to workers of bankrupt factory

imageGerman clothing group sOliver has given €100,000 (US$110,000) to 2,000 former workers of the Jaba Garmindo garment factory in Indonesia, who are reported to be owed US$5.5m in severance pay since the factory went bankrupt in April 2015.

The Indonesian factory also produced for global brand Uniqlo, whose Japanese parent company Fast Retailing refuses to pay anything towards the debt owed to these workers, according to Clean Clothes Campaign, an alliance of labour unions and non-governmental organisations.
