Brands ‘failing to protect workers’ from labour abuse in Myanmar
Global fashion brands are failing to protect the workers who make their clothing in Myanmar from labour and human rights abuses ranging from inhumane working conditions and wage theft to the use of violence, arbitrary arrest and even murder, according to a new report.
The study from the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre (BHRRC) identifies 198 violations affecting at least 104,000 workers in Myanmar’s apparel sector since the military coup in February 2021.
