Artificial spider silk for medical scaffolds

image1Latvian company PrintyMed is developing biocompatible artificial spider silk to create scaffolds that can be used for tissue engineering applications, such as three-dimensional heart valves, heart muscle regeneration, peripheral nerve regeneration, and bone and cartilage regeneration.

The technology also has potential uses in medical procedures, such as skin reconstruction and bladder repair.
