Separate properties in graphene flakes

ETH GrapheneResearchers at ETH Zürich in Switzerland have succeeded in turning specially prepared graphene flakes into either insulators or superconductors by applying an electric voltage.

The technique even works locally, which means that completely different physical properties can be realised side by side in the same graphene flake regions.
