Sustainable non-leather options for luxury brands

Discussing designing for a responsible future at a conference held in Birmingham, UK, in February, Amy Frascella, design director, colour and materials, Land Rover Design, explained that automotive interiors as an extension of personal space is a concept that is challenging convertors of luxury materials, where textiles play a major role.

For example, the Range Rover Velar sport-utility vehicle offers a high-end leather alternative consisting of a 30% wool/70% polyester fabric developed with Danish textile firm Kvadrat, which is designed to cater to a new category of ethical luxury consumer.
