Polymer additive improves thermal resistance of PET-based airbag fabric

With the production of light vehicles forecast to have a compound annual growth rate of 3.3% from 2017-2022, the demand for airbag yarn and fabric is also increasing.

A new polyethylene terephthalate (PET) yarn developed by PHP Fibers based on a polymer additive will bring the performance of PET-based airbag fabrics close to those based on standard polyamide 66 yarn.
