Cambodian clothing makers seek compensation for employee benefits package

Following Prime Minister Hun Sen’s recent announcement of benefit packages for clothing workers, Cambodian manufacturers have appealed to the government to compensate for the higher cost of production that will result from the decision.

Garment workers will now be entitled to free healthcare, which will be paid for by employers. The Prime Minister also proposed that workers should get free access to public transport and a rise in the minimum monthly wage from US$153 to US$168.
