30% of Philippine workforce could be furloughed until 2021

Up to 30% of clothing workers in the Philippines could be placed on furlough until the end of the year as the country’s apparel manufacturing industry struggles to pick up.

According to the Confederation of Wearable Exporters of the Philippines, capacity will be down to just 40% in the third quarter, making many workers redundant owing to a lack of orders.
