Cambodian clothing sector requests EBA withdrawal postponement

Representatives of apparel, footwear and travel goods producers and the EU business community in Cambodia have requested the European Commission (EC) to postpone its withdrawal of the Everything But Arms (EBA) preferential trade scheme for 12 months.

The Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia, the Cambodia Footwear Association and the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia submitted a joint letter to the EC.

The letter said the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has halted production and slowed global demand, hitting Cambodia’s clothing, footwear and travel goods manufacturers and workers.
